They stand in endless rows, ready to serve their departed emperor. | ||

The statues are amazingly detailed, each having their own facial features. | ||
 |
Although creating so many highly detailed likenesses of the emperors subjects must have been an enormous task for the imperial artisans, it was a considerable improvement on the previous custom of burying the subjects themselves. | ||
